Tire: Road Venture APT KL51
Category: Highway All-Season
UTQG (treadwear): 600 A A
The Kumho Road Venture APT (code name KL51) as an on-road light truck and SUV tire that has been designed to fit a wide number of vehicles and wheel sizes from 15" - 20" in diameter. This is a comfort oriented tire that is only meant to be used on pavement. It's a pretty generically engineered tire when you get down to it, and honestly I don't expect much out of this tire other than getting vehicles from A to B.
That being said, when compared to other highway all season tires, the Road Venture APT stacks of fairly well. This is a deep performance category with a lot of marginal tires being offered by other tire manufacturers. Probably one of the best attributes about this tire is it's longevity. Most drivers I know that run this tire can get 80,000 miles out of a set. That's pretty good for a tire this sturdy which is why it gets used a lot on light commercial vehicles. Wet and dry traction is adequate, but not top notch. Snow traction is lacking, and there are other tires in this category that do a better job. If you have four wheel drive or all wheel drive, then these tires would work well. If you see a decent amount of snow, then either get a set of snow tires or go with a better tire in this category. So in conclusion with the Kumho Road Venture APT KL51, I'd say you have an above average tire that is worthy of consideration. Considering where Kumho prices their tires, this is one of the better values on the market.
