Tire: P Zero Nero All Season
Category: Ultra High Performance All-Season
UTQG (treadwear): 400 AA A / 400 A A
The P Zero Nero All Season from Pirelli has been designed to give automobiles the traction they need in pretty much all weather conditions you might find while driving. What I usually tell people is that even though it says all season, the tire is really only meant to be used in light snow. This tire actually has some history behind it, and it originated as the P Zero Nero M+S Pinna that uses additional sipes for better snow traction. Pirelli uses a silica-enhanced tread that can withstand both high and low temperatures, along with shoulder grooves and blocks for stable handling and water extraction. So this is a pretty well engineered tire overall, but not quite at the top of the charts in terms of innovation.
In the very competitive Ultra High Performance All-Season segment, I'd rank the Pirelli P Zero Nero All Season right outside the top 10, which still makes it a very good tire. Many of the drivers I know that have run this tire agree, and a healthy amount repurchase another set. Like most tires in this category, the tire manufacturers claim good snow traction, but in reality it is rarely achieve and I point it out when I see it. So that is certainly a shortcoming on this tire. Otherwise these are pretty solid tires and I've found them to be fitted to many late model Ford Mustangs as an OEM tire. If you drive pretty moderately on them, you can get about 70,000 miles out of a set, which is very good considering the traction qualities. I think if all season performance is your ultimate goal, you can find better tires than these. However, I do consider this a very solid tire and would certainly recommend it when it falls within a drivers price range.
