Tire: Eagle F1 Asymmetric All-Season
Category: Ultra High Performance All-Season
UTQG (treadwear): 500 AA A
Goodyear has done a great job with their Eagle F1 Asymmetric All-Season tire. In their lineup, they only make two tires in this performance category and they are both very highly regarded. Goodyear utilized a specialized tread compound for traction in all four seasons. They have engineered their tread blocks with a Dry Handling Zone which allows more rubber to make contact with the road when greater traction is needed on wet road conditions. That, along with their Traction Teeth (it's a real thing!) and their Tredlock Technology microgrooves makes for confident traction under harsh circumstances. You can tell this is a high engineered tire, and one that I ran on my original (and sadly, sold) Mazdaspeed 3 with good results.
The Eagle F1 Asymmetric All-Season is a top 5 tire in this ultra high performance all-season tire segment. It's not quite the best you can buy, but it's pretty close. In particular, this tire lacks snow traction where a few other tires in this performance category excel. So if you don't get a lot of snow, or you have an all wheel drive vehicle, then this might be right up your alley. Due to the aggressive traction these tires have, you won't get a lot of longevity out of them. So expect around 40,000 miles if you don't drive like you're on the Autobahn. Dry and wet (from rain) traction are the strong points on this tire, but I got through a couple Midwest winters without too much drama and it certainly can be done. Definitely a solid tire and worth a look if you need four season traction for your performance automobile.
