Tire: Solus KH16

The Kumho Solus (sounds like soulless, which isn't a good thing, perhaps something got lost intranslation here) KH16 is a large volume tire in the Kumho lineup. It is available, as of right now in over 50 different sizes, from 14" wheels to 19" wheels. That is a pretty wide range! While Kumho states that this tire was developed for drivers of sporty cars, and coupes, I don't think it's quite so clear cut. This is a comfort-oriented tire, but it is one of the better ones Kumho makes in this particular performance category. It uses their own ESCOT Technology to optimize the tire's shape and footprint on the road, but overall this is a very normal tire that places ride comfort and noise reduction over performance and traction. While not billed as an Original Equipment (OE) tire, I do find these tires often fitted to Hyundai passenger cars...and the Solus KH16 is far from the worst OE tire I've seen.
I wouldn't say that drivers are super impressed by this tire in terms of what it provides on the road. Most note it to be an average tire in most conditions, aside from snow where I'd probably rank it below average. However, a large bright spot is it's tread life. These tires routinely go for 80,000 miles before needing to be replaced. So for the money, I'd say these tires probably offer a pretty good value. You won't win any races, but you also won't slide off the road too easily. So you kind of have to weigh how much traction you want, along with the value provided by a tire that will last a long time. It's a hard choice, but one in which the Kumho Solus KH16 will make you think.
