Tire: Optimo H431
Category: Grand Touring All-Season
UTQG (treadwear): 480 A A
The Hankook Optimo H431 is one of the many tires under this line that Hankook produces in the grand touring all-season performance category. It's a little challenging to differentiate the Optimo lineup just due to how the tires are all so similar. I'm sure the good folks at Hankook would disagree, but that is the state of play for tires that are often used as Original Equipment (OE) for cars coming from the factory. These tires in particular seem very popular as standard equipment for the Kia Optima and Hydunai Sonata. This tire is rated as an all-season but you shouldn't confuse that rating as an ability for this tire to conquer snow season.
People that have this tire equipped on their car are for the most part pretty displeased with the performance. The Optimo H431 is rated very poorly by drivers and nearly all find a different tire to put on their wheels once these are worn out. For those cost conscious drivers, you'll be glad to know that these tires routinely last 80,000 miles with proper rotation, which is exceptional for an OE tire. In terms of traction abilities, on dry pavement they seem to do very well. It's only when the road is wet from rain, or slick from snow/ice that drivers really start to complain about these tires. In summary, that means if you live in a part of the world that has all four seasons and a decent amount of precipitation, I would steer you away from purchasing the H431. There are many better options on the market for similar or less money.
