Tire: Assurance ComforTred Touring
Category: Grand Touring All-Season
UTQG (treadwear): 740 A B / 640 A B
The Assurance ComforTred Touring is a pretty decent offering from Goodyear. Part of the Assurance lineup, it's on the touring side of the equation and isn't quite as highly rated as the others on the passenger all-season side. This tire was designed to provide good ride comfort and long tread life and it delivers on those to points. Interestingly, this tire is just barely asymmetric, which is more typically used on performance tire, and it also has large independent shoulder blocks to increase wet and dry traction. The comfort aspect on this tire comes from a shock absorbent rubber layer that is built into the tire tread. Michelin has found that this ComforTred gives this tire 20% more cushion than a standard tire.
The ComforTred is available in a relatively wide range of sizes and we've heard from a wide variety of drivers about this tire. It's one of the more popular choices in this performance category. Most drivers have found that this tire will give them over 85,000 miles before they need to be replaced, which is some of the longest life on the market for such quality traction. There really aren't too many complaints about the tire. Honestly. There are a few better traction choices on the market, but I don't think you can go wrong with this one. You'll get some pretty good traction, even in light snow, along with a long life and a quite/smooth ride. Pretty much a good all around bet.
