Tire: Energy LX4
Category: Passenger All-Season
UTQG (treadwear): 500 A A / 500 A B
The Michelin Energy LX4 is designed to be a long-lasting all season tire for sedans, minivans, and crossover utility vehicles. What this tire does well, is combine all the little things a passenger tire should do well (lifespan, fuel efficiency, ride comfort) into a practical and typically very cost effective package. You don't really find a lot of fancy technology or design features with this tire, it's just built to be solid. This tire does use Michelin's EnergySaver construction, and is branded with the Green X showing it's low rolling resistance roots.
Overall in the segment, I don't really rate this tire much higher than the middle of the pack. The tire will definitely give you long life under most circumstances, so if you're looking for a tire that you get your money out of, this is one to be checked out. I've known of many sets to get 90,000 miles before needing to be replaced. Now, those miles are not going to provide you with the best traction, but they'll get the job done. Snow traction is one big limitation with these according to most drivers, and you'll find that these will be more noisy than most on the highway, especially later in the life span. But I really can't knock these tires past that. They're blue collar, get the job done type of rubber, and worth a look if you need something along those lines.
