Tire: Energy Saver

The Michelin Energy Saver is a summer tire developed for vehicles that are wanting to increase their fuel efficiency without giving up a tremendous amount of performance in the process. Seems to be a little bit of a contradiction, but you can actually have a high grip summer tire that also has a low rolling resistance tread compound to enhance fuel economy. This tire was originally developed to be an original equipment (OE) tire for European passenger cars, but can be fitted to most passenger vehicles if the tire is available in the correct size. Michelin employs their computer-optimized design process and exact manufacturing process to develop the Energy Saver, and for that it has earned Michelin's Green X status, signifying that it is one of the most fuel efficient tires on the market today.
In terms of ranking this tire against other summer grand touring tires, I think it falls somewhere in the middle of the pack. Michelin makes some very bold claims when it comes to this tire, but unfortunately it falls short of others in the same performance category. That doesn't make this a bad tire though, in fact I think this tire does a great job at combining better fuel economy with some decent handling. You'll also get about 45,000 miles out of set, which isn't exceptional, but also isn't the worst you'll see. For an OE tire, you're getting a pretty good deal. However if you are shopping for a replacement tire, there are certainly other tires on the market that offer a better value than these.
