Tire: SP20 FE

The SP20 FE is a low rolling resistance tire developed by Dunlop for use on small compact sedans and hatchback vehicles. Low rolling resistance in this case equates to higher fuel economy, and for the SP20 FE, Dunlop has attempted to combine this increased fuel economy with four season traction. For this all season tire, they used a high-density compound with three circumferential grooves to provide water drainage. I have to say though, unfortunately, that they might have dropped the ball a bit on this tire. It ranks for me, in the bottom five for the passenger all season performance category. To get lower rolling resistance and better fuel economy, traction has to suffer somewhat, that's a given. The problem here is that I think Dunlop compromised too much to the point where this tire doesn't provide nearly enough traction in most situations. You might be able to get 60,000 miles out of a set of these, but I highly doubt you'll feel confident while driving them. I know that you can definitely find a better tire for the money in this performance category and I wouldn't recommend going with the SP20 FE unless you rank fuel economy over traction.
