Tire: Ultra Grip Performance 2 RunOnFlat
Category: Performance Winter / Snow
UTQG (treadwear): Not rated
This Goodyear Ultra Grip Performance 2 RunOnFlat is the very close cousin to the regular Ultra Grip Performance 2 that we have reviewed on this site as well. This is a tire geared for European style high speed winter driving, so you'll notice some very good stability at highway speeds. It can be fitted to coupes, sedans, wagons, and crossovers. This being a run flat tire means that you'll be able to go 50 miles at 50 mph in the event of a loss of pressure from a puncture or otherwise. The sidewall has been specially built to provide this function. Goodyear says that these tires should only be fitted to cars that originally came with run flat tires. These tires should only be installed in sets of four and they do meet the industry standard for severe snow service. Similar to the regular Ultra Grip Performance 2, this tire is pretty advanced, and it combines Hydrodynamic V grooves and saw-tooth shaped intermediate grooves along with Goodyear's own Adaptive SipeGrip technology to help with traction in all situations. It sure does seem that Goodyear sells many more regular Ultra Grip Performance 2 tires, so in terms of driver feedback, I'd say that you'll find a lot of those details on that tire review. So hit that link for the nitty gritty. Otherwise I would just say that most run flat tires exhibit a bit more road noise than regular tires. In most other terms they'll be very similar.
