The Ultra Grip Ice WRT SUV is a studdable winter snow and ice tire designed by Goodyear to offer traction under the most insane of winter scenarios. Being a studdable tire, this means that it will accept metallic winter studs to increase traction. However, I would note that these are an optional feature, the tire along will have excellent winter traction by itself. However, on very icy surfaces, these studs can really make the difference. This tire features Goodyear's own Winter Reactive Technology or WRT, is is the reason why this is one of the best light truck snow tires on the market. These tires are built to take abuse, and they do meet the industry standard for severe snow service. Goodyear also recommends that you only install these tires in sets of four.
As I mentioned earlier, I think this is one of the best tires on the market for severe winter weather. It's aggressive tread design and optional studs make it a real beast on ice and snow. Drivers have taken note of this and have mentioned how even traction control rarely kicks on when you use these tires. So with that great amount of traction, there are a few downsides. One being the tread life, and I think if you can get 30,000 miles out of a set, I'd call that a win. This is just due to the aggressive tread design and compound. Also, at highway speed they are a bit on the loud side, but that kind of comes with the territory when it comes to all winter tires. So if you can take the noise, these Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice WRT SUV tires should certainly be on your radar.
