Tire: Blizzak LM-60
Category: Performance Winter / Snow
UTQG (treadwear): Not rated
The Blizzak LM-60 is one of many tires in the performance winter lineup for Bridgestone. It is a fairly specialized tire in that it was developed to be fitted to sports cars, coupes, and performance sedans for those drivers that are looking for enhanced winter performance and stability during the colder months of the year. Bridgestone has developed a unique high-silica tread compound with enhanced durability and higher speed ratings. The Blizzak LM-60 also has a directional tread compound and 3-D zigzag sipes to increase the tire's contact patch and disperse water. These tires meet the industry standard for severe snow service and they should only be installed in sets of four.
I'd say that for the most part, these tires do their job pretty well when facing winter ice and snow road conditions. They are not the most grippy for the performance category, but these are one of the few that carries n H-speed rating in this performance winter category. So the trade off here is higher speed rating at the expense of traction. So you will definitely find better snow and ice performance from other tires, but these will give you a very sporty ride considering the amount of grip. I know drivers that have crossed the 60,000 mile mark on a set of these tires, which is very good for any winter tire. Even though this is a performance winter tire, many drivers still complain about the loud highway ride, and being squishy in the turns. But really though, after seeing the deep tread on these tires, you can't be that surprised, can you?
