Tire: Turanza EL470
Category: Standard Touring All-Season
UTQG (treadwear): 260 A A / 300 A A
The Turanza EL470 from Bridgestone is a standard all season tire that is probably best suited to be a replacement for other all seasons which you have a tire go bad on you. That might be the only good thing I have to say for the rest of this review. Everything, from the traction, to the longevity has been compromised in the production of this tire, which is likely why it is often used as an original equipment (OE) tire for many car manufacturers.
As I mentioned before, this is not a well liked tire by drivers. I hesitate to recommend it in most situations unless you just need a replacement tire for awhile. It definitely ranks in the bottom 5 for this performance category, and I'd say that ends up mainly being due to the very poor snow traction capabilities. They are advertised as all season tires, but I've had far too many folks tell me that it is very hard to get around in light snow with these. I think in most situations, you'll likely get less than 40,000 miles out of a set, and most people report that it's a stretch to even get that far. Lighter cars seem to report doing better, as in getting more miles out of a set, versus drivers of heavier vehicles. I typically don't see a huge divergence here, but with the Turanza EL470 it is very apparent. Could be the lower cost tire compound, it's hard to say.
