Tire: ContiSportContact 2
Category: Max Performance Summer
UTQG (treadwear): 280 AA / A
The ContiSportContact 2 is a middle of the road tire for the performance category that actually under performs in most areas. It does come in a broad range of sizes, so you'll find it on anything between 16" and 21". Continental does point out that this tire does come with their bionic tread compound that supposedly helps with braking and traction. I guess I'd hate to see this tire made without it. Just as with other summer tires, it is not intended to be driven in snow or at near freezing temperatures.
These tires will wear fairly well considering their low treadwear rating. I've known drivers to get 70,000 miles out of a set, but I'd say that's on the high end of the spectrum. You should probably expect in the 50,000 - 60,000 mile range. Most drivers have noted that these do not do well in rain, which is fine if you live the desert I guess. What I would really recommend here, is that you take a look at the Continental ExtremeContact DW if you want to stay within this performance category and under the Continental brand. It's a far superior tire in probably every way.
