Tire: Grabber UHP
Category: Street/Sport Truck Summer
UTQG (treadwear): 360 A A / 320 A A
The Grabber UHP just generally is a pretty specific tire. It's been designed for performance oriented trucks and sport utility vehicles, which is a pretty niche market. The good news here is that General Tire has spent a lot of time over the years developing this tire and it is easily one of my top picks in the performance category. I'll note that this tire is actually built to exceed the mud + snow tread patter guidelines, so it can be used in light snow...but the manufacturer doesn't recommend it.
The technology built into this tire is pretty cool, it's built with wide shoulder blocks and a central V-shaped tread area. All those fancy words essentially mean that they have traction and performance in mind when they hit the drawing boards. Can't complain about that.
As I mentioned earlier, this is a top tire for the performance category, and driver reports back that up. It's almost hard to believe how many miles some divers have gotten out of set. There are numerous instances of people getting 50,000 and 60,000 miles out of set...and these come from drivers of performance minded trucks and SUVs. If that's what you're after, then the Grabber UHP might be up your alley. The only downside I would note is that they will most likely be louder than the street tires you replace, but thats due to the aggressive, traction-oriented tread pattern.
