Tire: Potenza RE040

Very similar to the Bridgestone Potenza RE030, the RE040 was developed for a unique segment of the car market. In fact, a few of the cars such as the Acura NSX and Toyota MR2 are no longer even made. However, if you have a BMW 3 Series, Lexus SC430, or Nissan 350Z you are in luck...so if you happen to own one of those, then I'd say this tire is right up your alley. Back to the big picture here, this is a low volume, high performance tire. Similar to other summer tires, this guy is not meant to be driven in ice/snow or at near freezing temperatures.
Also similar to the RE030, this tire gets some nasty reviews. It has a very low treadwear rating for a tire in this price range, so you won't get a lot of miles out of it. I've seen a few reports of people getting around 60,000 miles, but I wouldn't expect nearly that many miles under normal usage. Honestly, I'd recommend looking at the Bridgestone Expedia S-01 if you wish to stay with Bridgestone. You can also look at tires from Continental or BFGoodrich as they also make many exceptional Ultra High Performance Summer tires.
