Tire: ExtremeContact DWS
Category: Ultra High Performance All-Season
UTQG (treadwear): 540 A A
In the enthusiast community, this tire is probably one of the most beloved on the market. Continental designed this tire to provide year-round traction for most sport, or sporty cars on the market. This tire has such a large size range that it will fit most any original equipment wheel. If you live anywhere that has a winter season where you'll see cold temperatures and snow, yet you still want a tire that will do well on the track or just racing around on city streets, this would be a good tire to look at.
The ExtremeContact DWS utilizes a really unique asymmetrical tread pattern with big shoulder blocks to handle high horsepower vehicles. Similar to other high end tires from Continental, most drivers get a ton of miles out of a set before replacement. I've seen reports of drivers getting 90,000 miles out of a set with frequent tire rotations. I think most drivers tend to see around 65,000 miles under normal use however. But in comparsion to other tires in this performance category, these will give you a much longer life. Many people point out that the tires perform pretty well in the snow too, so if you're on the fence about getting a performance tire for use in winter, don't let that stop you from checking these out!
