Tire: Turanza ER300
Category: Grand Touring Summer
UTQG (treadwear): 320 A A
I find this tire to be very intriguing, in that Bridgestone manufactured this tire to help increase fuel economy of the vehicle while in use. They did this by employing the use of a low(er) rolling resistance tread compound, essentially making it easier for a vehicle's engine to turn the tires...and thus use less fuel in the process. The ER300 was developed for Original Equipment (OE) for use on Mercedes-Benz sedans, but this tire can be used as a suitable replacement across many other vehicles. As with all other summer tires, they are not meant to be driven at near freezing temperatures, or on snow/ice.
Even though this tire is manufactured to help increase fuel economy, that doesn't mean it gives up all its traction abilities. This is a very capable tire, well suited for a sport sedan. It utilizes large tread blocks in order to handle high horsepower, even though for this performance category, you don't necessarily seem them used all that often. Even though the treadwear rating is pretty high, most drivers don't report getting more than 50,000 out of a set, and considering the oftentimes steep price tag, this is a hard tire to recommend. However, if you are looking for an OE replacement tire for your Mercedes-Benz, I think that might be the most suitable situation for these tires -otherwise its probably worth moving on from this specific model of Turanza.
