Tire: Potenza S-02 A
Category: Max Performance Summer
UTQG (treadwear): 140 A A
The Potenza S-02 A is an offshoot of the previously reviewed Bridgestone Potenza S-02, however, just one look at the tread design and you'll see that there are plenty of differences between the two tires. So, same family, but still quite a bit different. This is a pretty specialized tire, and it is often used as original equipment (OE) on select Porsche and Ferrari vehicles. Just remember though, this is a summer tire, and shouldn't be used in snow/ice conditions or at near freezing temperatures.
Unlike the 'original' Potenza S-02, the A version is very well reviewed. If you don't track your car very often (or at all), drivers have reported getting over 30,000 miles out of a set. From my experience, this is a very popular tire for use on Porche 911s from pretty new, to fairly old. Many have reported that the sidewall is pretty stiff, which is great for cornering, and that the traction actually holds up very well over time. In terms of road noise, you'll probably notice a bit more than other tires on the market, but otherwise drivers report that this is a very predictable, and stable tire for the money.
