Tire: Potenza RE960AS Pole Position
Category: Ultra High Performance All-Season
UTQG (treadwear): 400 AA A
I think the best way to talk about this tire is with the word flexibility. It has a number of things going for it which make it an overall performance bargain if you are looking for a tire that combines price, treadwear, and performance. In terms of performance, whats great about this high grip tire is that it can be used in all four seasons...hence the "All-Season" at the end. This tire will even tackle snow, which is more than I can say for many other performance-rated all season tires on the market. Bridgestone has put some really cool technology into this tire, utilizing their own in house UNI-T AQ II which is an advanced compound that allows for greater wet traction through the entire life of the tire.
Considering the aggressive directional design, the Potenza 960AS Pole Position receives a very high treadwear rating for a tire in this performance category. Most drives get over 60,000 miles out of a set, and that's really impressive considering that these tires are mostly fitted to sports cars and sport sedeans. Although they do have a pretty long life, drivers note that these tires seem to exhibit a bit more sidewall flex than other tires in this size, and that road noise will get worse as time goes on. Nothing that would be a deal breaker for me, but you should take those into considering when thinking about purchasing this tire.
