Tire: Potenza RE050A
Category: Max Performance Summer
UTQG (treadwear): 140 AA A
This tire is not a whole lot different than the "regular" Bridgestone Potenza RE050 that we have already reviewed here. The only real difference here is that the A at the end signifies that this tire uses an asymmetric tread design. The theory behind the asymmetric tread design is that manufacturers can build in larger tread blocks on the outer part of the tire, thus improving grip during cornering. Another byproduct of an asymmetric tread design is that you have to be a bit more careful when doing tire rotations, as some some patterns (criss-cross vs front to back vs cross front to back) may not be appropriate for you vehicle. Otherwise, if you are coming down to a decision between this A tire and the regular, the theory is that you'll have better high speed stability going with this asymmetric tread design. For all the details on the tire, just head back to the review we've already done.
