This tire has a really impressive list of vehicles that use it as original equipment (in other words, car companies put these tires on at the factory)...cars like the Ferrari Enzo supercar, the Ferrari Scuderia, and the Mercedes-Benz S55 AMG. What this means is that, some of the most expensive and fastest cars on the market today, use this tire. This tire was developed to provide very predictable wet and dry traction for vehicles that push the performance edge. It is a summer tire though, so don't expect to use it around near freezing temperatures or getting through snow/ice.
The Potenza RE050 has a number to great features that help the tire maintain traction on wet and dry roads. It has a continuous center rib for dry traction, and wide lateral tread grooves for traction while wet. The tire uses large shoulder blocks in order to handle high amounts of horsepower. Despite the low treadwear rating, drivers report getting over 35,000 miles on normal usage, which is good for this performance category. The RE050 will generally cost more than other tires in this category, so if you can find it on sale or at a discount, you might seriously consider it as an option.
