Tire: g-Force T/A Drag Radial
Category: Track and Competition
UTQG (treadwear): 0 B C
As you might think, the g-Force T/A Drag Radial was developed by BFGoodrich for drag racing events, but it can also be used on the street when needed. This is a big traction tire built to handle large amounts of horsepower, and also have more durability than other tires for the performance category. Similar to the BFGoodrich g-Force R1, you can use this tire to drive from your house, to the track, and then back without a hitch. Due to the risks of hydroplaning, this tire should not be used in wet conditions including rain, snow, or ice, and should also not be used in near freezing temperatures.
This is a directional tire, with seriously huge tread blocks, all designed to handle big horsepower and torque. You may be looking at the treadwear rating and be getting scared that it gets a 0, and that its B C scores are also on the low end. BFGoodrich has put out many statements clarifying why this is the case. The shorthand is that due to how the tire is made, and its extremely aggressive tread compound, the tire rating comes in very low. However, it should be noted that this is kind of on purpose. For drag racing, you want to see that number very low as its a rough indicator of how much traction the tire provides as well. It will handle high speed and high heat well, but not for sustained amounts of time. The key word is 'sustained' here, as that also plays into the rating. I'd say don't buy into the internet rumors, the tire will handle what you need it to on the drag strip...which is exactly where this tire should be found. Many drivers have found that you can actually get 5,000 miles out of set if you play nice with them on the road getting to and from the track. Keep in mind that is a very impressive number considering what the intended purpose of these tires.
