Tire: g-Force Sport COMP-2
Category: Ultra High Performance Summer
UTQG (treadwear): 340 AA A
So if you thought the BFGoodrich g-Force Sport (which I reviewed) was up your alley, the g-Force Sport COMP-2 is like that tire's bigger, badder brother. We'll get to that in a minute, but as with other tires in this category, it is important to warn drivers that these are summer tires...and they are not intended to be driven in ice/snow conditions or near freezing temperatures.
Given the aggressiveness of this tire, it has become a quick favorite of driving and racing schools. The g-Force Sport COMP-2 tires have been selected by the Skip Barber Racing school, in addition to the Ford Racing High Performance Driving School at Miller Motorsport Park. The COMP-2 uses a unique silica-infused compound, which increases grip and steering response, without impacting treadwear. To improve lateral stability, the COMP-2 utilizes g-Control sidewall inserts, which results in a 40% higher sidewall stiffening.
Compared with other tires in this performance category, most drivers will find this tire to have slightly more comfort, and slightly less road noise than competing tires. However, due to the tire compound used, don't go out there expecting to get over 50,000 miles on a set of these.
